Learning Agents: What is it?
Learning Agents are at the core of the Blify experience. This article explains what they are, what they're used for, and what you can configure as an admin.
What is a Learning Agent?
A Learning Agent is an AI-powered conversational training agent that interacts with your employees directly in their everyday work tools (Microsoft Teams, Slack, WhatsApp).
Unlike a traditional e-learning module, which is passive, linear, and hosted on a separate platform, a Learning Agent:
- reaches the learner in the flow of work, with no need to log in elsewhere
- delivers a conversational experience (dialogue, role-play, quizzes)
- adapts to each learner's pace and level
What is a Learning Agent used for?
You can build Learning Agents to address a wide range of internal training needs:
- Onboarding: deliver the fundamentals to new hires during their first weeks
- Sales enablement: train sales teams on a product or pitch
- Compliance: build skills around GDPR, cybersecurity, or ethics
- Soft skills: practice feedback, conflict resolution, or management
- Product updates: roll out a new feature to your entire team in just a few minutes a day
What does it look like for the learner?
The learner receives interactions directly in Teams, Slack, or WhatsApp. They engage with the Learning Agent the same way they would with a colleague: a few minutes a day, at their own pace, without disrupting their workflow.
The Learning Agent is also proactive: it reaches out to the learner at the right moment to keep the learning momentum going, so they don't have to initiate the conversation themselves.
Interaction formats are rich and multimedia: explanations, videos, images, open-ended questions, multiple-choice questions, role-play scenarios, and more.
What you can configure
As an admin, you configure each Learning Agent around a few key building blocks:
- Learning objectives: what the learner should know or be able to do by the end of the training
- Prerequisites: the knowledge or skills needed to follow the agent under the right conditions
- Key points to cover: the essential concepts and messages the Learning Agent should convey
- Knowledge sources: the reference content the agent draws from
- Tone: the communication style adopted by the agent
- Channel and target audience: who receives the agent, and on which channel
Three ways to create a Learning Agent
You have three options to get started:
- Start from a template in the Blify library, the fastest path
- Duplicate an existing Learning Agent from your workspace, to adapt it or build on it
- Create an agent from scratch, for a fully custom need
💡 Good to know: a Learning Agent remains editable as long as it hasn't been assigned to any learner. Once assigned, its settings are locked to ensure a consistent learning experience. To evolve it further, duplicate it and work on the new version.
